MASTER PLAN APPROVED
 

In the Fall of 2020, a Master Plan consisting of upgrades and improvements to Ocala-Marion County Veterans Memorial Park was drawn up by the Friends of Marion County Veterans Park Foundation. Last year, the Plan was submitted to the Director of Parks and Recreation, Mr. Jim Couillard, for review/modifications/consideration.
 
Today, the plan- consisting of 16 new park features and 8 new park monuments- was presented for consideration by Director Jim Couillard to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners at their meeting.
 
We are extremely grateful for Director Couillard's unblemished presentation as well as his answers to subsequent queries offered by the County Commissioners.
 
After minimal discussion and exchange of information, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the Master Plan.
 
The Friends of Marion County Veterans Park Foundation expresses their deepest gratitude to Director Couillard and to Parks & Recreation Parks Designer Joey Amodo for their unswerving guidance over many months. They navigated the Master Plan through peaks, valleys and unexpected challenges, ultimately shepherding it into safe harbor today.
 
In closing, our Foundation is equally grateful to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners for their unanimous approval today. Their stamp of approval permits us to move to the next phase of our plan. This includes, but is not limited to, a targeted marketing campaign to raise funds for these improvements and upgrades, as a large percentage of them will be purchased and installed through private donations.
