While food and drinks of many kinds are permitted in Marion County Parks, alcoholic beverages are not allowed. During your visit to the Park, please take time to tour the Marion County Veterans Exhibit and Education Center. It is just down the hill from the Park Pavilion and is handicap accessible. The Center is chock full of military artifacts and rich in military history! We have a WWI Gallery, WWII Gallery, Korean War Gallery, Vietnam War Gallery, War on Terror Gallery and an Ocala Hallway full of local history.
The Marion County Veterans Exhibit and Education Center is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 am to 1 pm, during special Park events and by appointment. Volunteers are on hand to guide you around! For more info, please call 352-671-8433 or email [email protected].
The Shady Hill Harmony, Shady Hill Elementary School's premiere performing ensemble, has a long and storied history of performances for the school as well as within the Marion County community and beyond. This includes, but is not limited to, performing at community events and arenas such as the National Anthem at a University of Florida Gator Men’s Basketball Game on ESPN2; Fine Arts For Ocala (FAFO); the MCPS Veteran’s Day Celebration at Ocala-Marion County Veterans Memorial Park; Paddock Mall during the holidays; and Rainbow Springs State Park during the holidays.
Additional performance venues include Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs Marketplace Stage; Market Street at Heath Brook; Kirby Farms Christmas Train; Silver Springs Village Cracker Days; and Barnes & Noble book events.
The Shady Hill Harmony is directed by Mrs. Sondra A. W. Collins, Music Educator at Shady Hill Elementary School. She serves as the Awards Committee Chair and Board Member, Florida Music Education Association; Government Relations and Advocacy Committee Member, Florida Music Education Association; Conference Planning Committee Member, Florida Music Education Association; and Board Member, Fine Arts for Ocala (FAFO).
